Patterns to buy…

After drafting a dress from nothing, my next project is going to be from, or adapted from, a pattern. Here's my shopping list:

One of my favorite bloggers made this skirt, and it looked fantastic. I think I'll make the one with a single pleat, out of some pink tweed I've had lying around forever.

This pattern is from a new company called Go Patterns. It looks very basic, but has some unique features that would be challenging to draft — princess seam panels in the front, darts in the back, a perfect boatneck neckline, and pockets in the front. Overall, a perfectly thought out dress!

Finally, I really want a neon bra. Yes, it's a lil' dated (Posh Spice has a few), but… This bra pattern is supposed to be fantastic. It isn't my favorite style, but if it will fit and be NEON, then it would be awesome.

And the rest of the wish list:

I'd make this out of a textured white cotton lying around my place.

The McQueen one in the center is magical, isn't it? If you take a closer look at it, the black patterns on it looks like a Tord Boontje illustration.

One Shoulder Dress

Finished! Wore it out. I'm still working on my posing, but really happy with the top half of the dress — the bottom is a little gnarly.

That said, piping is the best thing ever. Love it!

Love it!

Okay, so this dress was designed by Harvey Weinstein's girlfriend, which arguably makes her the hardest working woman in fashion. And, it's insanely pretty. It has a low-cut back, which makes it even lovelier, though I don't have a photo of it.

Neon!

Made a hot dress for the neon party this weekend, featuring Shakeyface. Made the dress in two hours, and while it is completely falling apart now, it still sets a record for fastest thing I've ever stitched up.

Finally, a picture! The dress is a bit worse for wear in this shot. Since I did such a quick & dirrrty job making the dress, I ripped out all the hems with the intent of redoing it properly, slicing open the back, and adding a zipper so that it can be a bit more fitted. That would take about three hours… think it's worth the time to have wearable neon denim dress?

btw, because the thick fabric makes the seamlines very visible, and because of the wide shoulders… does it look like a bad forever 21 balenciaga knockoff?

Curtains

Are absolutely fantastic, but no fun to put up. Just created a bedroom in my apartment using long, grommeted curtains from Ikea, and it looks absolutely fantastic. Pics to come.

Miami party animals.

So, D & I try to grab dinner at the highly recommended Joe's Stone Crab on South Beach. We stroll in, only to find it's closed for a private party - and to see this:
More Miami (and Spring Hill, holler) up on flickr.

brilliant!

jk sent me a link to these amazing sewing stations at http://www.lamaisondemarina.com. How hot are they?

The key to it's awesomeness? The drawers and the spools of thread are accessible even when the table is folded up.
